FujiFilm FinePix S1800 (2010) – the chunky bridge

The nickname says it already. Handling and comfort are so important. When you don’t have the will to carry something large or heavy to make your photos, and the results won’t pay back the effort, it is perhaps not yours. In the case of this chunk, it didn’t work out for me. I could have found a solution for the always dropping lens cover for sure. But I never got used to carrying this camera. It would have looked a bit funny to carry it on a neck-strap as if it was a DSLR (and I just don’t like that!), and it was too big for even the biggest pants pocket. So where to put this camera? Right, leave it at home and regret the buy. The focal length of 28–504mm made photographing under forest or indoor light conditions difficult. The macro performance though was not bad and the minimal distance of 2cm allowed nice close-ups. It used four AA batteries, so you had to charge those externally.
