Oecophylla smaragdina – What they eat

You might remember the story about the oriental whip snake, where I found a paper of researchers who learned from social media posts, what these snakes usually eat.
In case you are currently looking for what weaver ants in Singapore eat, you found it here!
Ever since I wrote about those ants the first time, I kept an eye on them. I noticed they are really pissed when their tree got cut (what happens quite often, and you don’t want to be near them then!).
Over the months I also collected some pictures of ants with prey, so I wanted to make a list and share the pictures.

I have no idea how a weaver ant community works. How much does one ant eat? They can’t all live from one locust sharing per day. Or can they? Do they also eat tiny insects, like a snack on the go?

Summary in January 2022: 1 carpenter bee male, 1 Spider leg (Huntsman?), 1 green Tortoise Beetle, 1 black leaf hopper, 1 small bee (not 100% sure), 1 large black ant, 1 large golden ant, 1 small black ant, 1 large beetle (probably Oryctes rhinoceros) and of course cat food! I have no background of how these preys were caught, for sure weaver ants take dead or almost dead animals.
